The Energy Commission (Local Content and Local Participation) (Electricity Supply Industry) Regulations, 2017, (L.I. 2354) was passed by the Parliament of Ghana into law on 22nd December 2017.

Regulation 28 of L.I.2354 requires entities who seek to or are engaged in any activity within the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) to submit their Local Content and Local Participation plans, to the Local Content Committee.

Regulation 16 also requires manufacturers of electrical equipment, electrical appliances, or renewable energy equipment to apply to be registered by the local content Committee. The application shall be accompanied by the manufacturer's local content and local participation plan.

The Committee, if satisfied with the submissions, shall issue a Certificate of Authorization/ Certification of Registration demonstrating compliance of the Service provider/manufacturer with the local content and local participation requirements under the Regulation.
