Further to the Energy Commission Public Notices dated May 30, 2003, January 10, 2008, August 9, 2011 and August 25, 2015 on the Classification of Bulk Customer in respect of Electric Power and on the Certification of Bulk Customers in respect of Electricity, the Energy Commission has reviewed the requirements for classification as a Bulk Customer of electricity, effective December 1st, 2018
By the revision, “A bulk customer in respect of electricity consumption is any consumer of electricity with a Maximum Demand of at least 500KVA consistently for a consecutive period of 3 months OR a minimum annual energy consumption of 1 million kilowatt-hours (kWh).”
Submissions required from prospective Bulk Customer applicants are;
Application letter addressed to the Executive Secretary of the Commission,
Copies of Electricity Bills (last 12 months) from the Distribution Utility, OR a Business Plan indicating the planned consumption of electricity by the customer in place of the 12 months electricity bill for applicants who are yet to start production or plan to increase electricity consumption to the levels required for Bulk Customer Classification.
