Local Participation Committee inaugurated

In 2016, the Parliament of Ghana passed the Energy Commission (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act 933) to incorporate into the mandate of the Commission as outlined in the Energy Commission Act, 1997 (Act 541), provisions on local content and local participation in relation to the energy supply industry and for related matters. Subsequently, in 2017, Parliament also passed the  Energy Commission (Local Content and Local Participation) (Electricity Supply Industry) Regulations, 2017 (L.I. 2354). Section 9 of L.I. 2354 establishes the ESI Local Content and Local Participation Committee to among other things:

• Oversee the development and measurable growth of local content and local participation in the ESI;

• Monitor and coordinate local content and local participation performance of all persons engaged in activities in the ESI in accordance with the Regulations; and

• Ensure the implementation of the provisions of the Regulations

On Thursday, 2^nd May, 2019, the Hon. Minister for Energy inaugurated the LCLP Committee as formed at his Offices at the Ministry of Energy.

The Committee is composed of the followings persons:
