BACKGROUND

The Ghana Renewable Energy Fair is the first high-profile, but truly Ghanaian Renewable Energy Fair. The Fair was conceived by the Energy Commission as part of its mandate to promote the adoption of Renewable Energy in Ghana. The fair is being promoted by the Energy Commission with the support of the Ministry of Power, and is being organised in collaboration with Connectworld, a local events company.

As opposed to previous fairs in the sector, this Fair is focussed on the needs of the Ghanaian Renewable Energy Industry. Key within this focus is the need to address the challenges associated with securing financing for the implementation of Renewable Energy projects.

Whilst the fair is fully Ghanaian in its focus, the fair is being organised in collaboration with the WACEE exhibition and conference promoted by the German Trade Delegation (AHK). The two events are being held together at the same venue, at the same time in a novel cooperation between the Energy Commission and AHK. WACEE has been successfully organised for the last 3 years, and at the last event it attracted 1,543 professional visitors and 51 exhibitors from 6 countries. The combined event is expected to significantly improve on these numbers, and the collaboration provides clear benefits to both events.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FAIR

The 2015 event will be the first Ghana Renewable Energy Fair, but the plan is to hold the event annually thereafter to provide a sustainable platform for the Energy Commission and all its partners and sponsors.

The fair will consist of a technical conference with invited local and international speakers, an exhibition of Renewable Energy Technologies and Solutions, and a special Investment Forum.

The Investment Forum is a key innovation that itself provides a unique opportunity for branding and product/solution positioning to a carefully selected audience. The exhibition will also feature a solar marketplace for vendors of solar systems, with opportunities for financial institutions to showcase their loan packages to prospective customers.
In addition to the above, the fair will also provide numerous opportunities for networking including the opening cocktail reception.
