Anthony Bleboo is the Director for Electricity and Natural Gas Directorate at the Energy Commission. He is an Electrical Engineer by profession.
He graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in the year 1993, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. He also has a Master of Business Administration Degree (Finance Option) from the University of Ghana Business School. He has certificates in “Utility Regulations” and also “Benchmarking Infrastructure Operations” from the University of Florida in Gainesville, USA. He also has a certificate in “Strategic Management of Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies” from the Harvard Kennedy School in Boston, USA. In addition to the afore-mentioned, he has a certificate in “Oil and Gas Infrastructure Development and Management” from the Korea Institute for Construction Technology Education and also one in “Electricity Regulations, Market Transactions and Settlement” from the National Power Training Institute in New Delhi, India.
Anthony Bleboo has worked in various capacities with various institutions such as the Volta River Authority and the Electricity Company of Ghana where he was involved in activities relating power system engineering and operations. He also worked with Reime Ghana Limited, RPS Engineering Services Limited and Huawei Technologies Ghana Limited where he was involved in activities relating telecommunications infrastructure development and maintenance.
He joined the Energy Commission in the year 2011 as a Senior Programme Officer with the Technical Regulations Directorate. He was subsequently appointed to the position of Deputy Director for Technical Regulations in the year 2013. By dint of hard work, he was appointed Director for Inspection and Enforcement in the year 2017. He was subsequently appointed the Director of Electricity and Natural Gas in the year 2020, a position he has held to date. He is responsible for the technical regulation, inspection and enforcement of the electricity and natural gas industry in Ghana. He is also responsible for the implementation of the Electrical Wiring Regulations and also the Local Content and Local Participation Regulations for the electricity supply industry.
At the Energy Commission, he has led the development of many critical regulations, codes and guidelines such as the Draft Control of Major Accident Hazard Regulation, the Natural Gas Distribution Code, the Electricity Metering Code, the guidelines for implementation of the Local Content and Local participation regulations, and the Guidelines for Implementation of the Electrical Wiring Regulations. He has served on major Committees such as the Electricity and Natural Gas Technical Committee, the Power Purchase Agreement Review Committee, Committee to investigate national power system collapse and the MDA Validation Committee of the Energy Sector Recovery Programme.
He has participated in major national and international conferences and events in the energy sector to keep himself abreast with new trends in the electricity and natural gas industries worldwide.
