Mr. Kennedy Amankwa is a highly skilled and results-oriented energy and environment professional holding an MSc in Energy Management and a BSc in Renewable Natural Resources Management. With over 20 years work experience in the Energy and the Environment sectors, he has been actively involved in energy efficiency and conservation promotion, energy audit, energy sector greenhouse gas inventories, corporate carbon accounting and assessment of energy sector climate change mitigation actions.
He is currently a member of the technical team that prepares Ghana’s National Greenhouse Gas Inventories and Reports to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to meet Ghana’s climate change reporting obligations. He was also a member of the technical teams that successfully carried out the following key national assignments:
- Implementation and management of the first Ghana Refrigerator Rebate Scheme that succeeded in replacing over 10,000 used and inefficient refrigerators with new and efficient ones.
- Preparation of the first Corporate Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Report of Volta River Authority (VRA).
- Design and development of the first Ghana’s online National Carbon Registry for collecting, verifying, and tracking emissions data from emissions reduction efforts and transactions.
- Preparation of the first Least Cost Assessment of Power Generation Technologies and Demand- Side Appliances (Integrated Resource Planning) Report for Ghana.
- Preparation of the first Energy Sector Technology Catalogue for Ghana which contains both qualitative and quantitative descriptions of present and future energy sector technologies.
