As part of the pilot project towards the development of mini hydro plants in Ghana, the project is providing technical support and equipment to the Bui Power Authority towards the development of the Tsatsadu 40kW Mini Hydropower Facility. Turbine Generating Unit was donated by the UNIDO through INSHP back in 2005 but the project could not take off for a number of reasons. The project made an initial commitment to support the development of the project to the Ministry of Energy and through the deliberation the Ministry transferred the Turbine to Bui Power Authority for development in collaboration with the RETT Project and other actors. This therefore brings several stakeholders to develop the project with technical support from the International Centre for Small Hydropower.
The RETT Project is therefore financing the cost of Technical Experts to provide feedback on designs developed by Bui Power Authority and construction of the facility.
The RETT project is also financing the cost of an asynchronous generator which is being manufactured by Henan Company Limited, a Chinese company as well as the cost of regulatory permits and cost of tying into the ECG network.
