The Energy Commission wishes to alert all importers of lighting appliances that enforcement of the provisions of the Energy Commission (Efficiency Standards and Labeling) (Light Emitting Diode and Self-Ballasted Fluorescent Lamps) Regulations, 2017 (L.I. 2353) is ongoing.  All importers of LED lamps are required to test these lamps and submit a Performance Test Report to the Energy Commission for approval before import.  Importers are to note that failure to comply with this rule will result in a rejection of their consignments on the Ghana Community Network (GCNet) eMDA portal leading to delays in clearing or detention of the goods at the Port.

Effective Tuesday, 01 October, 2019, all requests for approval for Energy Efficiency Ratings for imports in compliance with the Energy Efficiency Standards and Labelling (Non-ducted Air Conditioners and Self-Ballasted Fluorescent Lamps) Regulations, 2005, (L.I. 1815) and also L.I. 2353 will be rejected on the GCNet eMDA portal if the relevant test reports are not submitted.
